Rusted Red Colored Algae???

I have this stuff growing on my live rock that I got from the lfs. It looks like rust to me and I've been noticing that it's spreading to other rocks that never had it before. Is this bad stuff? If so, how do I get rid of it?

I know what coraline algae looks like but does it have an earlier stage where it looks like a rusty tin can color?

I had problems yesterday with attachments, so I will try some pics for you.
Some of my coraline starts out glowing orange under the moonlights and changes to red. some just looks red. I also have purple and pink. The red is dominant.
Do you see your color?

does it have bubbles in it? have you felt it to see if it comes right off or not? if so it could be cyno. how fast has it spread?

+1 coraline is hard like the rock, if it is slimy it is cyno.

I have red coraline algae that looks like what was shown in the picture. This is not the same thing. It's hard not slimy and doesn't rub off. I used a bristle brush and it stayed. I got new live rocks about three weeks ago with some of this stuff on it. One rock had a huge, ping pong ball size area, and since this discovery I've found tiny areas here and there on at least four rocks that cropped up over those three weeks.

Coraline comes in many colors and variations of color. If it is hard and won’t come off it is coraline.

Thanks for responding. Someone else on a different board was telling me it was bad and to get rid of it. Whew! Glad I can stop worrying.
