Rusty Angel/Ich

I got a Rusty Angel about 10 days ago from my LFS. It had been at the LFS for about 10 days. Showed some signs of ich at the store. I took it home and put it in QT. Next day the angel is covered in ich. Started hypo and got the salt down to 1.09 last Thursday. The last couple of days the ich is gone but there is a film over the angel's eyes. Is that still ich or pop eye? Will hypo cure pop eye? Should I just wait and see or treat with medicine? If medicine, what kind?

most likely its ich not pop-eye, keep him in QT

I had heard that the last stages of ich end up in the eyes but wasn't sure if that was correct or not.
Its a white film (kinda looks like skin peeling after a sunburn).
Not eating great because I don't think it can see the food.

i know what your talking about i had a flame that had ich and one of its eye started to get the popeye look to it but i never heard of that being the last stage of ich, kind of doesnt make sinse
is your angel eating and spitting the food out, if so try adding garlic to the food or try some different food like fresh fish, or mysis

I've been soaking the frozen food in garlic extract as an extra measure to fight the ich. He's not spitting it out. I don't think he can see it to eat it. He looks a little better tonight. I'll see how he eats in a little while when I feed my main tank.

Hypo will NOT cure pop eye, there's a thread on this site, look it up. The film over the eye is caused by ich, I believe secondary infection. Keep feeding him garlic food! Pop eye is when the eye is bulging out from it's head, larger then normal, yours isn't pop eye. There are medications for the film over the eye, but I can't remember what they are right now. Maybe someone here knows? Good Luck! :happyfish

Update: Rusty is still in QT. Fat and eating. Very shy and hides behind a rock or the filter but the ich is completely gone and has been for almost 2 weeks now. One eye is perfect. Still notice something on his other eye but I can't see him well enough to figure it out. Still a film, but not bulging. I'm going to wait another week or two and then start to raise the salinity back up to 1.025.
