Rusty brown???

Greetings and welcome to the board

Sounds like a new tank, if so, then you may be talking about diatoms, the dead remains of diatoms show up brown. If indeed this is a new tank then they will eventually disappear on there own. Just remember to use something like RO/DI water for top offs.

Well, let's first find out why it's there...
How long has your tank been set up??
How old are your lights?
Are you using tap water in your tank??

So the cycle is complete and you have a new set of lights. Very common to see this happen. Other algae blooms may come and go over the next few weeks. Unless you have corals then you can simply run your lights at a reduced photo period for a while and work up to a normal schedule of 8-10 hours. So start with 6 hours and add a half hour each week. This may help with some of the algae blooms. The diatoms will dis appear after they exhaust the silicates in the water column.

Thanks alot...I am going to add corals at some point....what do you think would be a good coral choice/ clean-up crew????

Depends on your lighting, what type and total watts are they?
