I live in Fair Oaks. I like Aqua World in Carmichael. I do not like Exotic Aquarium in South Sac or Capitol Aquarium which I often here people recommend.

Where in Carmichael is Aqua World?
I just found a place up in Rocklin that is pretty good. I like it better than Capital. I only went to Exotic once and wasn't impressed. I also have a mom & pop place up near me in Shingle Springs that is ok.

It's on Madison and Dewey. So you would take hwy50 to Sunrise to Madison. Just got back from there and bought a yellowhead jawfish. Real cool. The place in Rocklin has a bigger selection and is pretty good too. Just a hassle to get to with all that traffic out there. Good luck.

I was visting my parents in orangevale and my dad and I went to a store out near rocklin I believe that had a thousand gallon shark tanks and tons of coral tanks and really good prices. I could'nt tell you the name though. It is the phone book though

I don't hate exotic, but it is definately not clean friendly quiet or inviting. I go to a small place in fairfield...but I am shopping for new stores. Do you guys know of anything good in south or west sac, even as far down as davis??? I hate driving forever

Sorry, bronco... I'm out the other way past El Dorado Hills!
The place in Rocklin (Aqua Life) with the shark tank is my new favorite... they have a huge tank with a black tip reef shark. They had a large one with look down fish, but sold those to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The "new" shark is only about 18" long, but still cool... and they have 3 HUGE eels with it, and several damsels.
Anyway, it's a cool little shop. I like their selection of corals, too.
If I hear of anything out on the "far" side of town, I'll post it. But the ones I'm most familiar with are Capital, Exotic, Aqua Life, and the one Beerman posted I'll be checking out. I also frequent the mom & pop place up in Shingle Springs... it's a feed store, LOL, but they've got a pretty good selection of FW and SW fish and a bit of corals.

Where are you located again?
I'm interested in some type of group for infomation, trading, learning, etc. The only one I've heard of is "Marine Aquarist Roundtable" of Sacramento. I haven't checked it out yet, just picked up some info. on it.

I'll be going through Selma (I know you know where that is, LOL) on my way to visit family for the holidays. My best pal lives there.
But I doubt I'd ever drive all the way down there for a LFS. It takes me 3 hrs. to get to Fresno... I can get to San Francisco in about 2 1/2!
Thanks though!

I know where that is! I go to a work-related meeting monthly at the Fairfield Holiday Inn.
I checked out the Marine Aquarist Roundtable of Sac'to. website... I really was unimpressed.
Anyhow, stay in touch if you find anything interesting out there!

Hey what was the name of that website? Plus if you want I can give you directions to our little LFS...not big but they do have some nice corals. It's called see splendor. If I'm not mistaken the Holiday Inn is off of Travis blvd. If you were heading home on 80 you would take the very next exit(Airbase Parkway) and stay right. Go 2 blocks, and get off Airbase on to North Texas. Keep going right. You'll go past a Kragen then another couple of blocks and there will be a Hollywood Video 1 more block and there is another Kragen. Make a right right after that kragens then a left into the first shopping center, it's by a phillipino market. Like I said it's nothing fancey but I will check out every LFS I run across just out of curiosity or boredom or..all right Damn it I'll admit it addiction

No problem... I like being bugged... it's called being a mommy, LOL!
Seriously though, thanks for the info. I saw on your other post that you found the website. I could have given you the url, but you beat me to it.
Do you know the hours of your LFS? When I'm down that way my meeting runs from 6:30-9:30pm, so I'm battling Sac'to/Davis traffic getting there and everything's closed (except for In-n-Out) by the time I'm done. Maybe I could go a little early and check out the fishies!
I'm expecting lights soon (bought them from a member here) so I can start my corals. I've got a colony of daisy polyps on hold at my little LFS, so that will be my first addition. Then I also have a coupon from Aqua Life, buy 2 corals get 1 free that expires in January... so that will be next!
Anyway, I'm rambling now. Let me know the hours of that LFS and I'll try to check it out some time.
