Sad Day for me

Not only am I depressed because it is snowing like heck out (another 10"-16" expected) but my all time favorite fish went carpet surfing today! My longnose hawk wasn't around at feeding time and I knew right away he had to be crispy He was definitely the fish with the most character in my tank as well as my second oldest next to Hippo Tang. He will be sorely missed by me and the kids.

I knew that they were jumpers, but I thought that I had it closed up pretty good. He actually jumped up and nipped my arm when I reached across the tank once. Hell of a way to die....on my family room floor! I guess that is like one of us drowning. At least my cat didn't find him before me! Lucky for the cat!

Bummer .
I had a hawk fish do that once too. Funny thing was is that I had tried all day to remove him from the tank to no avail. Just wanted to move him to a different tank. Next morning he was found carpet surfing. Amazing how they can find the most impossible route to escape the inescapable.

Sorry for your loss. Have you figured his escape route? can it be fixed to elimate another tragedy?
