IMO, no, no, no.......get a more peaceful trigger.
Undulates will only coexist (for a short time according to all accounts) with another fish that is as nasty as it is, of which there are very few, without the Undy ripping the other fish in the tank.............any questions?
Undulates are MEAN damned fish, don't take a chance............Peace
If you had a tiny Undulate that was put in the tank "after" the Toby; depending on the Undy's temperment, it would work for a period of time. Once the Undulate got good and comfortable with it's enviroment the aggression would slowly start to increase. Once the Undy got some good size I would say the Toby would be snuffed out, for the shear fun, just being mean,or claiming the entire tank as it's territory. This is my opinion based on a fairly moderately tempered Undy. This fish can't help it as they're from the wild and this behaviour is bred into them. Ferner has mention he has seen Undulates live a life with peace, in a tank full of other fish. There is also a guy on another site with a male/female pair in a 180GL tank living peacfully, or at least tolerating one another. I would say in my opinion the success rate of this would be 2% out've 100 for an Undulate from 1" to 12" to live a life of complete peace. I don't think it's worth the risk, as the teeth these guys have can do severe damage with little effort.......
As titan said, it is not worth the risk. The Undulated Trigger is a ticking time bomb. There are plenty of other triggers that are a lot less aggressive that would be compatible with a blue spot puffer.
Lei and sargassum trigs are a couple to add to the list. And as triggered said it's a bit of a gamble with these guys. Nigers are supposed to be peacful, but mine is the most aggressive Trigger I have :notsure:
I have a undulate and i would love to find tankmates for it but everyone says there is none. I just need some answers please or this trigger is gunan hae to go back to the store.
I have kept undys in the past and they are vicious. Very fun fish to feed (not hand feed mind you). I recently bought a Huma Huma and he more fits the tankmate mold. HE has been able to tollerate a falco hawk and damsels for three months now with no aggression (that I have noticed). The undy that was in the same tank (prior to Huma Huma) took out a few damsels during the first week.
