Sailfert ALK test question

It says to wait till the color changes from blue/green to orange red or pink. I get a more purple color first...then an orange/red if I add more drops. When should I stop? At the FIRST change of color or when it gets to the orange/red? I have not used this brand for ALK before and my reading seems to be out of wack, even with the supplied "calibration fluid" I use their Cal test kit so I am familiar with the procedure.

I add contents as directed and start with a blue color. I stop dropping when it turns into a distinct pink.

Yes...but does it go from its ORIGINAL blue/green color to pink...OR does it go to purpleish THEN pink. Mine goes to purple then pink,Im just NOT SURE when to stop and calculate the results. Should I stop at the first color change OR wait until it turns orange/pink. Like I said ..my results are WAY OFF...even with he supplied calibration stuff.

Mine seems to be only a drop sometimes two between the change from blue to pink..... I figure the pink as the final test number too.........

How old is your kit? Salifert is known to have bad batches of their Alk kits, and also very inconsistent at that. I recommend the elos kit, it's awesome!

If I remember correctly, the instructions say that once the color starts to change purple or pink, then you are done.
