:help:
My camera is not working atm so I will try to explain.
Notice to Tang Police:
I got this guy from someone who was gonna toss him out cause he looked bad. My tank is only a temp home until he is in good enough shape to be given a new home. He is about to go into my 55 and he is about 3.5 inches.
The poor guys face seems to have fallen off....looks like bone almost, white colored. His spine (vertical line or whatever you call it) seems to have lost its scales and is pale. His fins are also kind of ragged looking.
The guy I got him from said the LFS had said that he was malnourished. If this is the case what should I feed him? He seems to be in good spirits and always eats.
I am currently feeding him flakes with seaweed a couple times a week. He doesn't seem to like the seaweed much cause he only eats eat when I first put it in the tank.
Please help because I hate to see this guy looking so bad.
Also, any idea how long it takes to heal this?
edit: He has been in my tank for about a month now and his fins look better but his face and sides are still bad.
Thanks! :happyfish

sounds like it might have HLLE. (head/lateral line erosion). there are several causes to this, the main one is stress. it takes awhile for a tang to recover. instead of feeding it flakes, get some frozen foods, ie formual one or formual two, and add either zoe or lifo to it. do a search in the disease forum for HLLE, hth. and best of luck saving the tang.
