Is your salt level supposed to go up on it's own? I tested the water on Sun. and the Sal. was 1.023. I just checked it today and it's at 1.025. Can someone explain to me how the salt level goes up without me adding salt????? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I believe temperature and oxygen levels in the water can both affect salinity readings but i may be wrong..

temperature can affect it but most likely it went up due to evaporation of water from the tank, when this happens only the water goes and the salt stays behind resulting in your sg going up.

Thanks for the replies. My level was low but I didn't know it made it go up like that. Learning something new everyday!! Thanks again.:joy:

your welcomed, its more evident the smaller the tank, i see you only have a 38 gal. i have a 180 and evap about 4-5 gals a day this time of year, and it probably doesn't fluctuaute as much as yours and i have an auto topoff system hooked up anyways.

Also, what are you using to measure your salinity?
If youre using one of them swing-arm deals, there could have been an air bubble on the arm causing it to become lighter.
But sebae0 is most likely right. Is there evaporation in the tank? Have you topped off between the testings? If so, did you top off with fresh or salt water? Adding salt will definately raise your salinity.
