I checked my friends salinity and it came up 1.030 on my refractometer. I run mine at 1.025. Where does everyone else keep there salinity?

1.03 seems pretty high. I'm 1.026. Remember that consistency is more important...if that makes sense. 1.03 would also be sort of a waste of money because you would be using a lot more salt.

1.025-1.026, IMO, is ideal - though temperature is also a consideration. This is especially true if you have invertebrates. 1.030 is pretty high, all considering...having said that fish are pretty tolerant of salinity changes and so 1.030 to 1.025 is not all that much to worry about.

Just a side note. A major reason for acclimating new arrivals. Check the salinity of the bag water your new arrival are sent home in. You will be surprised

I check the salinity of the LFS water and when I get fish or inverts shipped to me and it is always around 20-25 ppt. I drip acclimate them for around 2 hours and get the salinity to match my Q/T tank. just my .02

I used to keep my tank at 35ppt and when we moved it they added too much salt and now it is 37ppt.
