sally lightfoot crab question

So I have this 12g microreef which has one fish (red-headed goby, less than 1" long) and one crab (sally, about 2" across).
I thought sallys were supposed to be safe tankmates, but a knowledgeable guy at a good lfs told me that ANY crab is opportunistic and can get a fish if he is big enough and the fish is small enough.
You guys think this is true, and if so, should I get him out of there? I'm very fond of this tiny goby.

Its been my experience that sallys don't actively pursue healthy fish....but....for a long time I had a 3" or so sally and it worried me. Mine was in a 100 gal display with several fish....it never caused any damage but I was concerned that it may if given the opportunity. In a system as small as yours I'd sure keep a close eye on it...

its like a monster in that size tank:eek:
IME, SLF crabs are iffy at best. I would never add another one to my reef. I know mine was a killer.

I have an emerald crab in my 10g nano. Should I be worried about him and anything else I would put in there? Didn't mean to hi-jack the thread.

Thanks, I'll get him out. But now I'm getting paranoid about other crabs, other tanks...
Ah, why can't we all just get along!

When we first started we had a 45 gallon reef tank, and we had a sally light foot, and 2 green chromis. The Sally light foot, hid under the rocks and waited for them to swim by and caught them and ate them, and it ate some of our hermits. We got rid of it as soon as we could catch it, and that was a chore... good luck. :scared:
