I dont think thats the dispute here. I think the dispute is what is beter Oceanic or Instant. And i think if your stuck with useing one or the other i would say put your hands together and use a 50 50 mix.

I see. But buying 2 buckets of salt, just to get a 50/50 mix? I've used Oceanic, Instant Ocean, and Tropic Marin. I recently switched over to Reef Crystals, and like the results. It just seems like more of a PIA to have to buy 2 different buckets of salt in order to get good results

Of course that was the point. If you want good results then stear clear and go twards something like Red sea or sea Cheam mix. My thought proccess is if im going to spend 3-5 grand on my 200g system then why would i skimp on the salt mix. I think if you use oceanic then you need to mix your 5g bucket then the most important part is to TEST all levels expecially MAG. Dont go spending a bunch of time getting your levels correct in your display then do something foolish like throw some un tested salt mix in thats just going to throw everything WAY out of wack again. I used oceanic and every bucket bag anything it WAS WAY OFF. were talken 500cal really low ALK. That and i read in a ton of documentation that it was really high in silicate. Which is never good to have in a GOOD established SPS dominate reef. And were talking Reef tanks not Fish only setups.

Ya, I heard about the silicates thing. Definitely something I tried to avoid lol. I dont know, it just seems awfully weird to me that most of the salts have been around for years, and used by millions of people, yet it seems one singular company cant "get it right" (ie: a balanced mix). I forgot, I did try Red Sea salt once, but it was only for a few water changes. I guess I did not use it enough to really notice an "improvement" on anything. The Reef Crystals seem to be doing well though.
Maybe someday there will be a salt that is so good, it can defy all opinions and personal preferences, and be the absolute best mix and overall best balanced of them all lol.

So you have a program to resize the pics with? If not, there are online pic resizers you can use pretty easily. Just search google for online pic resizer or online picture editor

You can email me the pics and I can post em for ya, but I'd rather tell ya how to resize em yourself
