Salt Mix

I have a 90 gal. fish only tank. Today when I was in my local LFS I was telling them sometimes my PH drops. I don't understand why and it hasn't YET affected my fish, I thought it may have been do to adding evaporation water. They suggested I change my salt mix.
What do you guys & gals think??
Thanks

your pH will fluctuate during the lights on period vs your lights off period. the pH will increase during the day due to photosynthesis of organisms and micro organisms in your tank. then it lowers during the night because photosynthesis is not occurring, thus causing the pH to lower. what kind of pH results are you getting and what time of day are you taking the measurements? is it a consistent time or sometimes in the morning and sometimes at night? i would recommend to take a few samples throughout the day and see if this is what is occurring. if you have a refugium, setting the lighting periods opposite of one another should correct this problem. if not or its some other problem you can try to use something like Kent Marine "Superbuffer dkH". it is supposed to maintain a fairly constant pH of 8.0 to 8.3. goodluck.

pH does fluctuate at night when the lights go off. If you want to remedy this, set up a fuge with lots of macro algae and run it on a reverse light cycle. When the tank lights go off, the fuge lights come on. This will help keep your pH stable.

Thanks, everyone!!!
I will keep an eye on everything. I checked the PH 3 times today and all seems to be OK. I will test in once again now that the lights have been on for a while. If I have any more or other problems I will be sure to post. Everyone always gets the best advice from the members on this site.
Thanks Again!!
