Salt Residue?

Is it normal to have salt buildup on the outside bottom edges of the tank where the glass meets the wood frame? It seems like I have to wipe it off at least once or twice a week.
Thanks

just yesterday I noticed quite a bit of salt residue on the outside glass agenst the frame. I figured that it was just watter that had driped on the glass and then evaporated, leaving the salt where it was. If that is not the answer I would also like to know what is hapening.

Could be a leak, just keep an eye on it and see just how fast it builds up. More than likely it's just drips from water changes and moving stuff around.

I have this problem around the openings of my top. I have a glass flip open front with a plastic 3-4" strip on the back that can be cut out for filter/etc placement. I get the salt buildup around the edges, and where the plastic connects to the glass. Also the top of my Emporor 400 filter. If there is a way to reduce it or even clean it up more easily I would like to know. Is it good/bad to put this back in the water assuming that the undiluted salt does not come in contact with any fish? (I kinda worry that they will think it is flake food and try to eat it).

I hav ethe same thing. I think we might have the same tank, oceanic 30 with the wood trim. Anyhow, as far as the salt being on the bottom rim a leak is unlikely unless it is so slow that the water evaporates as it escapes. It is most likely a small drip off of your light/hood fixture, or pump therm cords from small pump/filter splashes. I know mine is. As far as throwing the salt back in I always do and have not had a problem yet. but I do not throw in hamburger size pieces, maybe the size of a dime at the most. In most cases I will usaully throw my pieces behind my filter media in my whisper so it will dissolve before it can go in the tnak. Or I toss it in the bio bale of my CPR BK2. Salt is exspensive so why waste anything

I also have this. But I never thought it was a leak due to the lack of moisture. I also throw it back into the filter STEVE
