I use tropic marine and have always used it. I think the reason why I have always used it is because the amount of trace elements that are in it

Broomer5 posted a study a few weeks back breaking down each salt; from pH to Ca to Mg. It proves scientifically which one has the most trace elements. Well, actually, most isn't the best. It proves which one most closely resembles natural sea water. All of them are basically the same, it just depends which one works best for you. I use Instant Ocean.

I must confess, my decision to go with coralife salt was mostly unscientific.
Reason one, was that of all the salts i looked at, this coralife had things on it like "great for reefs" "Right amounts of calcium etc." (as much as i hate to admit it, i am a sucker for marketing- they had pretty stars around the statements which makes them more true)
PLUS- when you buy a 5 gallon pail, you geta free t-shirt! :-D

Instant Ocean is the most widely used salt by the pros and experienced aquarist. Most Coralife products are below standard.

I went from Instant Ocean >> Tropic Marin >> Coralife.
Went to Coralife because it does not have Phosphates. Tropic Marin does. Or it did at the time, not sure if it still does.
Of course, a big factor here is what kind of water you are mixing your salt with. ;)

T-shirt...
Instant Ocean comes with a pump to mix the salt up but heck, with all the $ we spend on this hobby I guess we could all use some free shirts huh ;)

Instant Ocean - just add water ;)
I just wear my NASCAR tee shirts when mixing saltwater, usually the Jeff Gordon one in case I spill anything on it :p

SI don't know about trace elements, but tropic-matrin works with angels, and clown pairs. I'll stick with it. Also, Tropic-marin sells their own TE (TRACE ELEMENT SUPPLEMENT) RECOMMENDED BY THEM for their artioficial seawater solution. /shrug
