I am still new to the salt hobby, but i do know the basics and i have been just looking on the internet for info and tips/techniques.
My question is what are some good saltwater books that really jsut cover it all, or a couple of books that you guys/girls just couldn't have gotten this far in this hobby wihtout?
Thanks,

Saltwater Aquariums for dummies, a referance for the rest of us. By:Gegory Skomal
It doesn't mean your a dummy it is just really good for explaining all the gogglygook in plain english about what needs testing and why, and what your looking to avoid. It explains EVERYTHING
Tips on first fish and corals. Its really good.
I have another book called "CORALS a quick referance guide" By: Julian Sprung
Published by: Ricordea publishing, coconut Grove, Florida 33133
It has pictures of the coral, charts telling you what they eat, what they get along with and where to place them in the tank. It even tells you how hardy they are and what water flow they need.
There are sooo many books but I have these and I know they are good.

Best books are called “your local library” start there
My local library has terrible SWF books. There is a one good one, but it's just a bunch of pictures with no information. The rest are very outdated. They recommend things like undergravel filters, CC, and airstone driven powerheads.

That still is a good place to start IMO. I guess I can call myself old school. But seeing were the hobby started from and what we had to deal with to maintain our tanks. Now looking at all of the advances IMO you will become a more rounded hobbyist

Oh I see. Now that you mention it I probably wouldn't even know about a lot of the old school things if it weren't for those books. Interesting and good suggestion.

I think the fenner book is great but I wouldnt pass up one of the more basic books that just give you a straight run down of some guidelines.
The saltwater for dummies is an excellent guide.
Good Luck

1+
I go to all of the librarys around here and their are a few books but I read it all and have found some interesting stuff. It also feels weird when you are the only one in your school that reads marine and tropical books.
.
Also being a diver and see the fish in there true enviorment helps you think of ways to make your fish/inverts/corals happy, well to me.
I have the books(listed below) and they have been a good help.
Aquarium & Pond Fish- David Alderton
What Fish? A buyer's guide to marine fish.-Tristan Lougher.
Saltwater Aquariums(animal planet) -David E. Boruchowitz
The Simple Guild to Marine Aquariums-Jeffery Kurtz
And some magazines.
And our very own Saltwaterfish.com message boards, oh wait that is not a book.

I like The New Marine Aquarium by Michael Paletta
Although, IMO, Fenner's book is the "Bible: for beginning aquarists; this book by Paletta is a good, very basic, introduction to the hobby.
Paletta (I think, I no longer have the old book) also wrote a similar book years ago (maybe in the mid 80s) that really described the hobby before Live Rock. Fascinating history of the hobby if you can find it at a yard sale, e-bay, library, etc.
