i know about the species but i dont have any; they can be venemous but i dont really know anything about the venom. if you introduce them small they will form a school or ball as it looks like sometimes, but if it is an adult then it should be kept by itself
I've caught them fishing before and would have to say no for keeping one on a 55g. They are very active and can get up to ( my experience ) about 18".If you had a larger tank with alot of swimming room then yes, but be very careful of the spines.
