why not?
I'm not trying to buy one. The only reason why I ask is because I happen to have couple of those and wonder if I could use it instead of throwing on a side.

it probably has chemicals or grease or something on it. buy specific aquarium pumps. whoever made your pump probably wasnt thinking "lets make sure our sprinkler pumps are totally safe so, on the offhand chance someone throws it in an aquarium, nothing will die!"

Also a non-magnetic drive pump (which is what this is) needs to have a shaft seal designed specifically for saltwater use. Using a non-saltwater-safe shaft seal will cause it to corrode and ruin the pump, if it doens't leech heavy metals into the water first.
Being a Flowtec and being designed for sprinkler or utility use, the chances of this thing having a SW safe seal is about nil.
Besides, 10.3GPM? That's only about 600gph... a Mag7 can do this for much less electricity.
By the way Tboy, didn't you ask the same question about the same pump a month or so ago? I remember making the same comments on this pump back then.

I do swimming pools for a living and never seen a shaft seal rust from salt water pool and I have never seen them make different one.Salt, acid or clorine are all corosive hence not making them any different. But I am not saying this is ok just stating a fact thats all
Also all pumps use lubercant to lubercate the o-ring in the shafts or housing seal plates of the motors. They make lubercants like magic lube that is 100 % eviromental friendly & leave no oil resisdue

pool pumps are a whole different creature than junky lawn and garden pumps. as you said they are designed to handle slightly corrosive water, where the pump indicated is designed for tap water wich by city standatds is supposed to be neutral. when it comes to pumps you need one designed for marine use, most pool pumps are up to par for this task, but the item in question is not anywhere near the quality of a pool pump.
