Saltwater

I get my own saltwater. How long could I store it with a powerhead and aerator?

Usually a month max. After that, calcium starts to accumulate on the walls of your storage container and leave the water.
It's not always the best idea to use natural seawater... it can introduce all kinds of pollutants and pathogens... make sure you consider that.

Then would it be safe to switch to mixing my own saltwater?

Im in Boynton, I collect my own and use it within 2 days. No reason to store it when you live 5 minutes from the beach.
