Are you still a fan of lifeguards? Is yours still kickin? I'm thinking about getting one to use as sump return but wanted to ask your advice first.
Thanks.

If you are referring to the "QUIET ONE" Yes it is still kickin'a$$...I would highly reccomend one to everyone. This pump has run dry twice with no problems.Still the quietest pump I've heard(or havn't heard)

It has never overheated. These pumps are equiped with a thermal overload switch that shuts the pump down if it gets too hot. Then you just reset it by unplugging it and plugging it back in....

i also use the quiet one pump by lifegard. never had any problems with it and it too has run dry. no big changes in temp to the tank either.

No heat problems because it is an external, not submesable pump.I would say it is the best on the market(imo)..

Steve, do you think that this pump is too big for my setup?
This is the circulation I am planning: 92G with 2 factory installed corner overflows, 20G sump, 4 powerheads in main tank (2 top @ 250GPH / 2 bottom @ 100GPH).
Is all that too much or too little?
Should I ditch 1 or 2 of the top overheads and use the sump return instead? Only reason I don't think I should do this is because I need the powerheads for more surface aggitation.
Let me know what you think of my setup. Thanks,
Dave

This pump will provide all the surface aggitation you need if you use a spray bar on the return. So,YES,I think the Quiet One would be a good pump for you...
