Hehehe.....I don't even know how well I can type right now:D It's been a fun night. About four years ago we started having a pumpkin carving contest at our place, and it was tonight....nice turn out with about 24 pumpkins carved by friends and family....seems to be more kids each year.....go figure.:D Here's a few of the non-serious entries.....;)

Here's my usual welcome for the front door.....I do this one every year......of course we use the "pumpkin master" kits.......we aren't talented enough to free hand.:D

My buddy Rudy's kid carved this "masterpiece", and we crowned him the winner.....he basically hacked the thing down to nothing, but he is only 4 years old. It was just about a "pumpkin bowl" by the time he was done. When we announced him as the winner, he threw his hands in the air in victory and we all cheered, and honestly......to see him so happy was a high point of the night. :) Yeah, I know the pumpkin sucks, but he loved it, and watching him win was a beautiful thing....you would have thought he won a gold in the olympics.:)

Later when the kids are gone....of course my brother and I are more serious about it.....:D He busted out a Rob Zombie and his girlfriend had a dragon.....Rob looked very nice.....my brother and I talk smack for about a month before we even carve.:D

Besides my usual "welcome" I threw in the clown, but it wasn't enough, and if you look close.......you can see the toothpick I had to use because I busted his jaw carving him....:mad: Not bad for the BAC I was sporting at the time.:D

I believe in the end we decided my buddy Matt had the winner with this guy......he just lit up so well, and the candle was nice and hidden.........although I think my brothers Rob Zombie was right there as well...great fun night at sammyville.....anyone got some pumpkin pics? throw em' up! I have a LOT of clean up to do tommorrow, and I still say it isn't fair since it was at our place.....I don't get as much time to carve because I have to take care of the guests.:D That's my excuse anyway......:D ;)

I will have to post a better picture of my Preciouse tomorrow night(my camera sucks). I did a carving/shaving it is wicked, I also tried a gandalf and it is all f'd up. I will keep this thread alive right up till halloween, I am a pumpkin caving fool, and will probably spit out about 10-15 this year. It is good to know that there are others out there that get in to halloween. Nothing better than drinking a few good brews and carving up pumpkins

GREAT pumpkins....we go to a party every year and that is the first thing. Grab a drink and go carve. Has to be free hand though, so we have to save the pumpkin masters for home. :D

Those are some very cool pumpkins. I agree, Rob and Golum are the best. Though the characters from 1000 Corpes are very well done as well (the fact that I could identify them without you saying what they were shows they were pretty good:)). I've only done a pumpkin carving contest once and I won with a Chicago skyline (I went to college around there). It wasn't anywhere near as complicated and intricate as these though! Great thread, thanks Sammy.
