Sand Bed Depth Decision

125g, long. Just added the salt to the ro water tonight and it is mixing.
I have 80lbs of ls (CaribSea aragonite) right now. This is enough to give me almost 2" of depth. I am unsure of what to do. I am going to purchase about 100-140lbs of lr in the next couple of weeks and would like to put something down on the bottom of the tank to make it stable just in case I decide to get some burrowers in the future. I know about eggcrate but would that only work for 1-2" of sand? Or can it be stacked??
I am guessing that I would need between 4-5" of sand for any burrowing fish (ie Goby)? If I was to put this amount in the tank what/how would I stabilize the lr. I don't want the fish to make the lr unstable.

If you add the rock first, then sand, your rocks will rest on the bottom of the tank and you won't have to worry about them falling.

Yeah I know that, but I was kinda wanting a dsb and I don't want to pay a bunch for lr then just burry half of it, it will "die" won't it.
I am not sure how people prop up rock with pvc pipe??

So you are saying I can stack up the egg crate on the bottom before I add the sand. And it will be sturdy enough.

I have a shallow sand bed and attempted the eggcrate thing but was worried about the edges on my silicone. It was very study. However, I chose not to use it but I was only going to have one layer. I don't know if there would be any issues with having it stacked? Might want to start a new thread on that one.

The eggcrate shouldn't bother the silicone if you cut it smaller than the tank size I wouldn't think. I am probably going to go buy some egg crate this evening when I get off work and play around with it.
Since I have 80lbs of ls if I bought regular sand that should be enough to seed it wouldn't it. I guess I will do a search on here to find out what kinds of sand would be ok. I could just go get some aragonite from the lfs.
