I just put 3 bags of sand into my 55gl and there is a huge cloud of sand in the water. I can't even see 2 inchs into the tank. Will it clear up. If so how long will it take?
Turn off any powerheads or filters that you may have on. Then just let it sit. It might take a day to settle, but it eventually will. I had to wait overnight for my 29 gal with 60 lbs of sand to settle.
That's good. Put in a raw shrimp, as it decays, the bacteria will cling to the dust particles and settle them. No problem,here's what mine looked like.
Is there any uncured rock or other source of marine bacteria in your tank with the sand? If so keep the circulation a full tilt and it will settle in a few days.
