Sand?Crushed shells????

Ok i have this "sand" that looks like its crushed shells??It doesn't even look like the sand at the beachs!Its supose to be sand but just looks like very,verysmall crushed shells.Can you show me a pic of what crush coral and sand is supose to look like.(the "sand" is white)And why is crush coral bad?:notsure:

crushed coral is bad because it traps food and then it causes ammonia and nitrates will shoot up.
