Sand during reaquascaping?

I know that when I rescape this weekend I'll probably have a lot of detritus fall off of my rocks and settle on my sand. I only have about 1.5" or less of sand. Can I stir it up or would I be better of leaving it be?

I Would Leave It Be And Try Not To StIR It Up ANYMORE THEN YOU NEED TO OR You Will End Up With A Nitrate Spike If You Do,good Luck
