sand from old fuge into new fuge...

say i had a 2.5 g fuge, and it is in my tank that has fish in it and is cycled and everything. now, im going to take out the fuge and put in a new fuge. can i just put the old sand strait into the new one and put it back in my sump? will this cause a cycle? i need quick replies! i have work soon and wanna do it before work! thanks!

should be fine, you may experience a small re-cycle, so be ready to water change as needed. that is also 'no man's land' of sand being not quite a DSB, so you should either be full DSB, or less than an inch.

thats how it is in my tank. everyone said it would be ok. but i was going to possibly add some more sand to the fuge tomorrow...

adding more sand, you will definitely have a mini cycle. depending on how much sand you add, will depend on how much of a swing in params you will get.
your 2" bed is ok but not really recommended, if you start to run into problems down the road, remember that to be one possible factor
