Sand issue

My tank has been up for over a year, and my sand will not stay white. I have 12 nassarius snails (15 Gal.) but the sand is always red-brown. I do 10% water changes 2-3 times per week. I have heard not to siphen the sand so I don't during changes. How do I get my sand clean? Please help!

I have an 800 RIO pump for the 15 Gal. tank. I also dont know if a conch would be too big for that size tank. My parameters have consistantly stayed the same. ammonia-0, nitrites-0, nitrates-40/80, Ph-8.2 (does drop every couple of months to 7.8) then add buffer. Any thoughts?

Add a fighting conch and a koralia 1, how often do you feed? Got any pics?
I think a koralia 1 would be a litlle much for a 15 gal maybe a koralia nano would be bettter.
But def.a fighting conch would help.

O.K. I will try the conch and the additional pump, but I am also wondering if I just have too much sand. I have about 25 pounds (almost 3 inches). Additional thoughts? I have tried to get pics from the digital camera to this post , and I guess I'm just to stupid. Still trying.

I think its impossible to keep a deeper sandbed like that clean... try the tongan fighting conch, if that doesn't start showing a difference within 2 weeks then add some cerith snaisl.
