Sand problem

I recently noticed that I am getting green color on the surface of my sand bed. After mixing it up it disappears but reappears daily. I have my lights on from 12-7pm. Is this too much light with 300 watt metal halideon a 70 gallon tank? I also have a small diamond goby. My original disappeared never to found. I suspect he became a victim in his cave. What is your flow and flow pattern? Most likely you don't have enough flow especially pointed towards the bottom. Also how old are your bulbs?

Good point- I had a rotating pump but recently it stop rotating. This is a tank that is 1 year old. I guess bad water flow allows substance to build up? Any other suggestions. I appreciate the help

In addition to the flow you should get a bigger cleanup crew. If you get 10-15 nassarius snails they will take care of your sand bed problems.

increased flow should help.
what are your water parameters for algae to grow that fast to re-appear daily somthing is out of balance IMO>
