Sand Question

I recently just bought a 55 gallon fishtank. I have my own sand that I got from a Florida beach and I was wondering if it was safe to put that sand in the fishtank without harming the other fish.

Sand needs to be obtained by going at least 20 miles out into the water before harvesting it. Sand from the beach is full of toxins from peoples suntan lotion, fuel from boats, etc etc. You could place it in your tank and have no ill effects... though you could have a disaster on your hands... your choice.

I agree, just go get some new sand and start your tank out the right way.
