does it do a good job of cleaning up the substrate? im going to be having a semi aggressive FO while some big messy eaters so i need a fish that will do a good job... do i just need one or is another necessary?

I have a diamond goby that is "THE MAN". He cleans every inch of the tank. I'm not sure what you mean by cleaning the substrate after messy eaters. They eat the microfauna that is in the sand, not poop. They are good to turn over the sand and keep the sand that nice clean white look. He also eats what the fish eat. I'm not sure of any poop eaters. Maybe nassarius snails.

I love the Dragon Goby for cleaning the sand, also known as the bullethead goby. Constantly sifting the sand. Substrate has never been cleaner. I have a peaceful tank, so not sure this is what you are looking for. My is about 2 1/2 inches and still does a great job in my 75 gl. My LFS has the Dragon Gobies in all sizes though.
Have been told by an expert that dragon gobies live longer because of some good bacteria they house. FYI.
Good luck.

The Diamond Goby is a better looking fish than the Dragon Goby. If I had known, I probably would hve went for it instead. Good Call.

When I had my diamond goby he took care of all of the diatom algae in my tank within a day. As for poop eaters I don't know what you could use. My Kole Tang ate poop but he might of been a tad bit special.
