sand sifting crabs

I am changing over to a sandbed this weekend - would these guys help to sift it?
I am also going to get some nassarius (sp?) snails and eventually a sand sifting star.
I have a 55 gal tank

I was curious about these guys, too. Haven't heard much about them before.

Skip the sand sifting star, they eat beneficial organisms in the sand. They usually out eat the tank and end up dying anyway.

Never seen sand sifting hermits in action. I can tell you that the Nassarius Snails are a good choice though. I have a lot in my tank and they do wonders for the sandbed. I also have a Conch that tears it up too.

see my problem is that the hermits seem to like snails for dinner....
