Sand Sifting Star Injury

Hello everyone i just took a look in my tank and saw something that i did not like. my sand sifting star fish has a big goudge in one of his feet. take a look and let me know if he is doomed or if it will heal or should i end it fast for him? what should i do for the poor guy

He should be fine as long as he is healthy. Starfish are capable of regenerating entire limbs. Just make sure you do slight water topoffs every day as salinity changes are the #1 killer of starfish.
