I have a 3" sand bed and will purchase some small creaters to keep it healthy, there are some sites that sell packages with bristle worms, sand bed clams, bristle stare etc. there are also certain fish you can get that will do a good job of steering the sand. I know some wrasses and gobbies do this naturally. So far I know of no reef addict that use vacuums or any thing of that nature. Thanks to the experience one on this board and elseware I've learned that you should try and be as natural as possible.
