Im starting up a 55 gallon tank and using caribsea sand. ive always used other type of bottom. does the sand ever come real clean? its a little cloudy but not bad. also i want to do all the sand and when my other stuff comes in the sand will be ready they should be here this week. anything you can tell me about the sand would be great.

Sand willl eventually settle out and the water will clear. It may take a couple of days but it wil clear up, Just make sure yur power heads etc are not pointed directly at the sand bed keeping it stirred up.

when I did my switch I turned off my protein skimmer and ran just the home made filter media in my 400 model Hang On Back mechanical filter. Forget the brand but I think you know what I mean. I did this as the basic fiber media is cheap and easily replaced. Cleared the tank really quick over night (72 gal).
