my tank's about 8 mts old i need to add some more sand. i only have about an inch base if i add is it going to cause my tank to cycle again?

ya i want to add more live sand. i have about 40lbs live rock some hermit crabs, snails, a cardinal fish, snow flake eel & a sleeper goby

well, if u wanna get the most out of the sand, you'll have to get rid of the eel and goby..
If u wanna keep them, then i suggest u buy some dry sand... Cause your sandbed would only serve the aesthetic pourpose. Sandbeds have so much to offer, but u must set it up correctly for it to be efficient.
That means no eel or goby..thats violating the sacred rules of a deepsandbed.
I love deepsandbeds cause thats going to be my future fossil fuel source(in a couple decades).. Im designing a small scale pretolium refinery.. And guess where im drilling??

never been one for rules but that still doesnt answer my question will adding live sand cause my tank to cycle again?

when i added new sand to my tank it did not recycle. it was just plain clean sand though.

make an eel cave... a 1.5 or 2 inch pvc pipe about 1-3feet long (I dunno how big your tank is) with two 45degree elbows, one on each end... bury that in the sand under the rock and it'll keep that eel from diggin in the sand. The goby... well... its a sifter..lol.
