I'm sorry...I didn't mean to overlook your post. I actually looked up Astropecten polyacanthus, and kept finding that they were common sand sifting stars. If you even look up that scientific name here on saltwater, they show a completely different starfish, the common sandsifter. That's what kept throwing me off. I never once was questioning your answer. I was just confused from all the misleading infromation from all the online store and online websites that I was reading. I understand now that the common sand sifter is the Archaster typicus. Also, I kept reading all these stories over the past year about how everyones sandsifters died, how delicate they were, and to stay away from them. I kept thinking, "well i most be doing something right"...(i've been in this hobby for about a year). He was growing, he wasn't depleting my sandbed. Although, I kept having these mysterious deaths of my inverts and small fish. All of this explains why.
