Saw a Gorgeous Tank

Went to my lfs last night, and saw a 75g show tank, Oceanic, all glass, For a low price of $799. and a 92g, corner tank for the same amount. Does anyone have a corner tank as opposed to a rectangular? Opinions please. Thanks.

It depends on what you're going to do with it, and your experience level. IMO a rectangular is better. Even though I like the looks of a corner, it's generally easier to light a rectangular tank for reefs, and fish like to have a long "run" to swim in. Good luck!

I just set up a 54 gal corner tank. It will be FOWLR and some starfish, shrimp and such. I was going to get a 65 rectangle tank but I like the look of this much better. Here are some pics before I put the background on. I'll try to post some better pics soon.

PeteM,
I see you're in N.Y. but $799 for a 75 gallon tank sounds awfully high to me. Is that price including stand, filtration, light hood, etc?
If that's the price just for the tank, I'd shop around on the Internet or try other LFS's. (There's a 150 all glass at an LFS near me that's $499.....)

The filter is a Fluval 304 canister. I also have 2 powerheads in there. I'll add a protein skimmer after I add some fish.

Great looking tank! For me, part of the decision to go with the corner tank is the amount of room I have to work with.

Jim, that's for the tank, stand, canopy and strip light. Oh, and that doesnt include sales tax.

Pete,
The 150 I was talking about is $499 for the tank and $299 for the stand and light hood. About the same that you'd be paying for half the tank.
I think a 75 is a great size tank but I'd certainly shop around before spending $799 on one......unless you have money laying around that you don't need?;)

Yeah, I wish I had some extra money lying around. LOL. I've got my eyes set on a 72g bowed tank which includes the stand and canopy with light for $499. It should be going on sale next month, for $449.

I really like the look of the corner bowfront tanks. I could only imagine what you could do with the the rock structure and ability to hide equipment. I am still sold on the classic rectangular tanks. Im not a big fan of the standard bowfronts. To me they just look odd in most rooms. Am I the only one that doesn't like the look of them?

Yes, this tank has a lot of coraline...and yes that is Red Sea Pumping Xenia on the left side...it pretty much covers the whole side now.

That's cool how the xenia are growing on the side of the glass. I've had a number of tanks, currently a 10g nano and a 54g corner reef. I had a 75g and 180g rectangular tank before. It does depend on what you are going to do (reef or fish only) and what kind of livestock. If you want big aggressive fish then go with the rectangle tanks. If you are looking at doing smaller community fish then the corner tanks are nice since they are deep. The problem I have right now is that I'm having trouble finding lights for my 54g. I have a lfs getting me a canopy (two months ago) so I can retrofit some lights in there. The rectangle style tanks are much easier. One thing I like about the corner tanks are that they require less room and they are different.

I have the 92 gallon corner tank by AGA. I am really satisfied w/ it. The amount of view space is great concidering it takes up only a corner. It's cycling right now but here is the pic I shared w/ the board a while back.

Here's a pic of my 54g reef. Picture is kind of dark. I'm still trying to figure out how to use my camera.
