Out here in the boonies of maryland it was common place for at least 10 15 kids come to school with shotguns and a deer in the back of the truck because they didnt have time to go home between hunting in the moring and school.

Sadly times have changed since I was in high school.

We did it and I graduated in 01. If I'm not mistaken in Texas there is an exemption to the weapon ban for hunting stuff while in season.

Oh, I know my senior year('01) that it was a big issue. I had a friend that actually cut class and went home becasue they announced that they were going to be taking drug sniffing dogs around the parking lots(who would think a small hick town of a couple hundred people) and he was afraid they would see his rifle sitting on his floor and it was less of a punishment to skip.

if guns were allowed at school, the sane kids would have a fun time showin off. and the mentally unstable kids would be the same.
if drugs were legal people would smoke weed every now and then, but now people hide and kill over drugs...

I graduated in 1994, and it was not uncommon to see a hunting rifle in the rear window of pickup at school.

When I was in high school circa the late sixties to early seventies we sold magazine subscriptions in FFA for prizes which included rifles, shot guns, & knives. These were transported home on the school bus. Hard to imagine now , but it's true. In fact, most all the guys at this rural school (legally)carried pocket knives which we would often show to each other. In my entire time at that school, not one person was ever shot with a gun or cut with a knife.
The times they are a changin'.
