schooling question ??

My blue and green do not school together but do school separately. I find my green more peaceful and swim throughout the tank more then the blue. The blue kind of like to hang out together in the live rock.

I could be mistaken here, but I understood that fish school when feel threatened. So a peaceful set-up would not create a schooling situation.

I've had both blue and green chromis. The green schooled and swam together around the middle and the top of the tank. The blue separated and always played chase with each other throughout the live rock.

That is one reason why fish school - there are multiple reasons:
Mating
Social Norms (hey everyone else is doing it)
Feeding
Protection
