Don't get 3 clownfish...they will fight.
You can add two, but you're better off getting a mated pair, to assure they will get along. Clowns are territorial, and don't like other fish of the same species.

Do you have a one gallon tank?
You should not put 3 fish in a one gallon tank. That will kill the fish, plus a manderine needs to be a very established tank with LR, otherwise it will starve to death. In a diffrent post I read that your tank has been set up since Feb. 2003?

Folks, IMO there is a good chance princesslily234 is a "troll."
Please consider this possibility before spending time answering this or getting worked up.
If you are not a 'fake,' princesslily, I would ask you to spend some time reading before sacrificing another fish like in your other thread. There is a lot to learn, as these animals are not 'rewards' for good grades, but things that can suffer.

I agree that she may be a troll. Her past posts have been odd and according to one she does have a 1 gallon tank. And I can tell you from first hand experience that unless the clowns are a mated pair they will fight.

I have been reading everybody's replies about me being a "troll". Folks, I'm not a troll. For your info. I'm getting a bigger tank (a 10-gallon) and I just bought some books about fish. So, please stop calling me a trolll!!

You might want to read some more. Because the big ten gallon tank your getting is still to small, for you. Don't kill any more fish untill you know how to keep them!

Yes please do not get 2 clownfish and a mandarin for the 1 gallon tank. It will not work and is just cruel especially when the tank parameters are not even close to correct.

Hey folks, in regards to buying a mated pair, when I go to lfs they usually have a tank full of clowns. They dont carry just two together. Can two be bought together, and then they become mated? I've seen the mated pair comment many times, but that is not the way the lfs around here sell them. thx.

A good way to get a maited pair if they don't have them is look for two fish swimming close together all through the tank. I have seen a couple pairs like that at a lfs around here.

I think u guys should bring into play SPECIES of clowns.
If she said clowns, I'll bet $5 she meant false percs.
False percs are schooling fish, though most others are not,
they need to all be bought at one time. A 30gal. would be sufficient for 3 false percs, which to me is bare minimum since they don't wanna be alone in a smaller tank, and any other species is too big or aggressive

hey im kind of new hear what do you guys mean by 'troll' ? Never heard this term before on the board anyone care to enlighten me?
Also as far as doing saltwater in a one gallon OR a ten gallon I really would recommend NOT DOING IT. Go freshwater. Freshwater fish are invulnerable. My kois could survive anything.
The woman I spoke to at my LFS told me that trying to do saltwater in a 10 gallon is a disaster waiting to happen, its just too difficult. The levels change so fast and so drastically that at the drop of a hat your entire tank could become wiped out.
She recommended not going smaller than a 29 gallon and I believe she is most likely right, as more water allows for more forgiveness for beginners whereas in a smaller tank errors happen and cannot be rectified. HTH and please listen to my advice about going freshwater. THEY ARE SUCH LOW MAINTENANCE BUT YET STILL REWARDING! Cheaper too.

Thanks Tigerlover. Your answer seems right. In other words know what you are buying. I will do a bit of research before buying.

LionStorm - I think by TROLL they mean someone posting comments so ridiculous they can not be legitimate and are only doing it to waste everyones time. Like a pratical joker.
PS - Princess Silly, what ever you do, DO NOT get a Mandarin. I am brand new too and do not generally give advise, but even I can tell you without a doubt that it will die. We all make mistakes learning this hobby and the fish pay the price, but knowing this from the outset and buying one anyway would be nothing short of criminal.
Let us know what you decide and if you really are serious, this board will help you every step of the way. Just make sure you take it slow and understand the 'cycle process' before you go any further or every fish you buy will certainly die. Also, never buy a fish without researching it first - a lesson most of us learn the hard way.
