Scooter Blenny was stung by Green Bubble tip anemone

I was looking all over my tank for my little 1 1/2 Blenny, He was so cool Scooting all around I had him appox 8 months. My Husband and I Bought a green Bubble Tip Anemone last week hoping one of our ocillaris Clowns would host eventually. Anyway long story short. I finally found my Blenny but he was Paralyzed, Obviously got to close to anemone. It was very said watching him suffer, he could not move, and was breathing really heavy. So I decided to relieve him of his misery. Has anyone else ever had this happen?
For I just ordered a Mandarin Drogonet and read they also have been know to get stung.

Hi,

All healthy anemones sting...that's what they do, sting anything dumb enough to get too close. What they don't eat, they just sting and release.

You also have to cover all intake tubes and power heads, they follow the water flow and usually end up being sucked up, poisoning the tank as they die. Personally, after mine stung the Copper banded butterfly fish so bad it left welts, I got rid of my beautiful fish eater, it wasn't worth it.

Thank you for the tip, I would definitely not want to pollute my whole tank, I am much more attached to my fish than this Bubble tip

It's a shame they are so troublesome...they sure are beautiful. I had my anemone get sucked up, even after I covered the intake...I turned off the pumps and let it wiggle itself free...it had some damage but it survived and did it 2Xs and survived...it didn't die, so it didn't pollute the tank.

Mine was a long tentacle tube anemone, and their tentacles are real thin and long, so it would work them deep into the mesh that I used to cover the power heads and intake with. A bubble tip would be easier to block with the filter mesh so it wouldn't get sucked in. Don't let that fear be the reason to be rid of it. Just make sure you cover everything.

Now the fish eating and stinging problem...that's your call, I got rid of mine because of it killing my fish and shrimp.

Sorry to hear about your blenny, weird how we try to create this nice little environment and these thing happen. Must remember they do it the wild also.

All I keep now are seahorses, no more corals. The macroalgae is dying off in the 90g, I need to do some water tests, it probably needs calcium.

Maybe I will do an update on my tanks on another thread, so as not to highjack this one. So I will try and take some pictures later today if you like.

Well I had to put blenny out of misery. And the anemone kept wanting to go to filter intake. Did not want to loose hundreds of dollars to a 9.99 anemone. My tank is nice and peaceful once again and I bought a mandarine dragonet to take the place of blenny although she is much more shy
