Scooter dragonette....

Saw two very nice male scooter dragonettes at the lfs today. Both were eating frozen enriched brine. How established of a tank do they need? Do they feed on pods as much as a mandarin? I've got about 5" dsb, and am going to end up with about 20-25lbs liverock in my 20g tank, maybe a little more. Do you think this tank could sustain one, or is it too small? The only other fish is going to be a large tomato clown. My tank has cycled, but I'm going to let it sit for a little while longer before adding anything else. Thanks. Bo

I'm probably going to end up with around 30lbs. Do they pick pods off the sand, or sift through it more and spit out sand and leave the pods and stuff in? Right now I have about 15lbs, but as I have learned with reef tanks, you can never have enough of anything, can you? Thanks for the info. Bo

I've had my scooter blenny for going on a year now. He was one of the 1st additions to my 37 gallon tank. I do have considerably more LR about 50 lbs. I do target feed him from time to time with a turkey baster. He'll eat anything I put in front of him. He's even been know to take small silversides.

i would not have 2 males in a tank unless itis very large. i put 2 males in my 135 and the bigger one jus chased the smaller one from the beginning till the end of the day. finally it just starved. get a male female pair. they are great to watch. the male comes up and is like "Hey BABY" and my female always gave him the cold sholder. after a few months they started hooking up right before the lights went out. amazing to watch.

Did she ever deposit eggs? When a male scooter flashes his dorsal fin, it is amazing. Von, what all do yours eat? Thanks. Bo

it would tke about an hour. the male just follows her around. he was about 3 inches big sucker. huge dorsal.

if it is eating frozen - i think a diet of enriched brine and mysis would do him well- it is hard to come by a mandrin who eats frozen food
