Now if they had found wire that had been twisted around the body with pliers.....
The state proved nothing but Peterson is an

and his wife is dead. . Sorry but that doesn't equal murderer. I don't feel sorry for the guy cause if he hadn't been a cheating liar he likely would have never even been a serious suspect, let alone charged with the crime. There was better evidence to convict OJ. In any case both sides will get a chance to make a better case after the conviction is overturned on appeal.

That was just one piece of evidence that I thought was pretty obvious. I kept up with the case, and payed alot of attention to it. There was plenty of evidence and plenty of witnesses to convict him. Thats why 12 people decided he was guilty.

Few more things I found interesting:
"Although members of Laci Peterson's family testified that she never mentioned Peterson's boat, police found a hair consistent with her genetic profile on a pair of pliers found in the boat."
"The remains of Laci Peterson and her fetus were found 1.25 miles from the part of bay where Peterson claimed to be fishing. A hydrologist linked the route of the fishing trip to the location of the child's body."
"Peterson left his pregnant wife Christmas Eve morning to drive 90 miles to the bay. He had never fished in the bay before, it was cold, and he passed numerous freshwater lakes, rivers and reservoirs along the way"
"The area Peterson fished was shallow and trash-strewn and far from the known haunts of sturgeon and striped bass."
"Peterson took a $39 freshwater fishing rod and freshwater lures to the bay. He did not have the proper equipment to catch sturgeon or striped bass, for which he claimed to be fishing."
"Peterson did not arrive at the Berkeley Marina until close to 1 p.m. - a late start for a fisherman - and remained on the water for only an hour"
"He told investigators his wife was mopping the floor when he last saw her, but he told his mother-in-law she was curling her hair. The couple's housekeeper had mopped the floor the previous day."
"It was 40 degrees in Modesto the morning Laci Peterson went missing, but her coat and scarf were found hanging in her closet."
"He said Laci had plans to walk their dog, but her doctor said she had ordered the mother-to-be to stop walking or walk later in the day because she had complained of nausea. Her family and friends said she was too weak and tired to walk.
Peterson left home at 10:08 a.m., and the couple's dog was found running loose at 10:18 a.m. That leaves only 10 minutes for Laci Peterson to stop mopping the floor, change clothes, leash the dog, exit her home, and be abducted by a stranger."
"Peterson talked to two realtors about selling his home in the month after his wife went missing. He told one realtor he was interested in selling the house furnished. He traded in his wife's SUV for a pickup truck."
"When he was supposed to be hanging fliers, Peterson went to a mall and a golf course, his wife's relatives said."
"While scores of volunteers and police officers were searching for his wife's body, Peterson maintained a romantic relationship with Frey over the phone, never mentioning that his wife was missing."
"When police arrested Peterson, he had dyed his hair blond and grown a goatee. He was also traveling with camping equipment, his brother's ID and nearly $15,000 in cash."
Seems pretty guilty to me. :nope:

And I guess you ignored the witness who placed Laci at the warehouse when the boat was there. Do you suppose she ever used a pair of his pliers? Did he ever use the pliers in an area where a strand of her hair could have been? (assuming the hair in the pliers was even hers).
Ever do much inland saltwater fishing? Using freshwater equipment is not unusual. He didn't know what he was fishing for (that is at least what the cops said he told them) so what does the area he was fishing in have to do with anything? I would think if he was dumping a body he would have went into deeper water.
To conclude Petersen is guilty you have to assume the same guy who was smart enough to committ a murder leaving no forensic evidence is the same one who:
Used the very place he dumped his wifes body as an alibi,
Traded her car in a few days after she went missing,
Continued calling his sleazy girlfriend, (yeah, sure she didn't know he was married, for like the third straight relationship) after the heat was on him,
Iquired about selling their house,
To convict someone of murder you are supposed to use the standard of no reasonable doubt. The state never showed a credible motive or cause of death. Combine that with the flimsy evidence and I can see why they had to dump the only juror who took extensive notes to get a conviction. We will see what happens in the next trial. Perhaps Petersen will have enough sense to hire a better lawyer.

#1- "Peterson left his pregnant wife Christmas Eve morning to drive 90 miles to the bay. He had never fished in the bay before, it was cold, and he passed numerous freshwater lakes, rivers and reservoirs along the way"
--He had never fished in the bay before, why now? Why this time?
"Peterson took a $39 freshwater fishing rod and freshwater lures to the bay. He did not have the proper equipment to catch sturgeon or striped bass, for which he claimed to be fishing.""The area Peterson fished was shallow and trash-strewn and far from the known haunts of sturgeon and striped bass."
-- He first had no reply to police when they asked him what he went fishing for, but later told them it was sturgeon or stirped bass.

No I havent, and neither did he!
--"He had never fished in the bay before"
Quote:"so what does the area he was fishing in have to do with anything? I would think if he was dumping a body he would have went into deeper water."
-- This area seemed pretty obvous to me, as stated it was trash strewn, so it would make it harder for investigators and divers to find the bodies.
-- It has been shown that he researched the currents, and that the currents of this area were very unique and would make it very hard for something to wash ashore.
-- He didnt have to go to deeper waters, he had the bodies weighed them down with the concrete ancors he made.
About the sighting of her at the warehouse:
Quote:And I guess you ignored the witness who placed Laci at the warehouse when the boat was there. Do you suppose she ever used a pair of his pliers? Did he ever use the pliers in an area where a strand of her hair could have been? (assuming the hair in the pliers was even hers).
--From Msn.com "Geragos also questioned Grogan about a potentially important sighting of Laci Peterson four days before she went missing. Grogan interviewed two women who said they saw the mother-to-be at her husband's warehouse on Dec. 20, 2002. Grogan agreed the women, who worked in the same complex as the fertilizer warehouse, specifically remembered the expectant mother asking to use their bathroom that day."
--"Laci Peterson, who was nearly eight months pregnant, would have had to crawl over fertilizer bags to reach the restroom in her husband's shop, witnesses have testified." From an msn.com article.
Quote: "Used the very place he dumped his wifes body as an alibi"
-- Of course he had to say he was there, he knew witnesses would have him there! If he said he had not been there, then he would have been more suspicous when people had placed him there!
Quote: "Continued calling his sleazy girlfriend, (yeah, sure she didn't know he was married, for like the third straight relationship) after the heat was on him"
-- Of course he still did this! He didnt know his phones were tapped, and this was his plan the whole time, to get rid of Laci and run off with this one!
As for him being smart enough to cover all forensic evidence, he didnt. Yes he was very careful about planning out this murder, as you can see in him researching the currents of the bay, making the ancors at his warehouse, and cleaning up his mess after he did it. The thing he didnt think about was that his little lie about Laci leaaving to walk the dog after, to make it seem like it was an abduciton, didnt work out too well. Yes there were some people who "thought" they saw her, but there were like 4 or 5 pregnant brown haired women in that neighborhood who walked around. And he didnt think about the 40 degree temp that day, and the fact that her jacket and scarf were still in her room. So after he murdered Laci, he probably got really scared, he had hoped that they would focus on the abducted theory. So when they started focusing on him, he got nervous, and realized maybe he didnt cover anything up. Thats why he was ready to run to Mexico, because he knew he was guilty. :notsure: And I really dont need to prove anything to you, the case was over! He's guilty!
