My blue face angle got a scratch on it. It had the scratch for a week or so. I think it got it from me trying to catch it . I notice today that the scratch is a bit puffy. Not sure if the scab is falling off or if it is infected. Looks to be more on the infected side. Just getting done treating it for eye fluke. I did a fresh water drip and treated with prazipro. Now i'm remove the prazipro (uv skimmer and carbon and a water change. I'm wondering if i should treat it with a antibactic. I'm going to wait 24 hour before doing anything. any advise be great. Just wondering whats the best thing to do about a scratch that is getting a little puffy. Thanks all

Do you have this fish in a quarantine tank?
How long have you had this fish?
What are the water levels in the aquarium?

alright i have had fish for about a mouth. never qt fish. Next time i buy a new fish i will. I figure i scratch him when i was trying to catch him. He in my main tank. I have 3 fish ,clown trigger and squirre fish and the angle. I don't want to move him. Hopeful the prazipro was not to hard on the rocks. I'm thinking of treating him with ampicillin. I know ampicillin is hard on the rock but that ok with me. Ampicillin is not as hard on the rock as some antibactic. I want to get this treated and then from now on i'm going to qt new fish. I hope by tomarrow it looks better. Because i like to go without the meds. my water is good. nitites 0 amn. 0 nitates 15 1.023 . looking at scratch again it looks a little fuzzy on the top of thr scratch. any ideas be great thanks.

Are you sure the clown trigger is not picking on the fish?
I would not use any medication in the main system. That could have very ill effects. Set up a 20 gallon long quarantine tank and treat the fish in there.

the clown never picks on the angle. going to see how the scratch looks today. taking a fish out of the tank in qt is not for me. I will from now on qt fish before i put them in main tank. but taken them out and putting in qt is not for me. every fish i have qt dies in the qt tank or dies when i put them back. so no thanks on that advice. everybody qt qt sick fish. toally bull ----. I've seen better result treating fish in the home tank. pretty much all this site is ,is a qt site. I've seen more fish die in qt tanks then display tank and i believe that a sick doesn't like to be moved. stress. the stress of moving the fish and the stress of moving them back in. With aggressive fish have problems moving back in. every africa cidlid i have qt get killed or die when i put them back healthy. I really don't beleive it best to qt aggressive fish. because they have problems when they move back in. I'm don't have a problem treating display tank (no copper though)ampicillin is not that hard on your rocks. I done it many times. i guess only advise on this web sit is qt your fish. i do beleive they more then one way to skin a cat. the guy at locally fish store don't see a problem with treating main tank. They are some of the best in busness. This is no half fish store neither. I really think you all need to get off you qt thing. I'm sure it works great, that doesn't mean that the only way. so if anyone got any advise beside qt it be great. I really think is is a nice site but all you hear here is qt qtqt. new fish in qt is good thing .but i can't go along with it for aggressive fish that are sick and that need to be moved. maybe in some cases. But if the fish is eating and acting normally way stress them out with the move. good luck all enough with the qt please .

If every fish you put in the quarantine tank dies, then there is a problem with your quarantine methods or the aquarium you use for a quarantine tank. Any major saltwater information source will tell you that a quarantine tank is not an option, but a necessity. Your LFS is not always going to be truthful to you because they are in the business of selling you things and telling you what you want to hear so that you come back to their store. This site has no special interest in telling you a lie. Besides, I thought you said that the fish at that LFS had a lot of problems with them (cloudy eyes, in particular).
This site is clearly not a "quarantine site". There are over 250,000 threads with 2 million posts in them. I would find it impossible to believe if even 10% of them had the words "quarantine tank" in them.
I am sorry you did not like my advice, but the best way to handle something is not always the easiest. The methods I practice are tried and true by a countless number of people.
The product you were using, PraziPro, is a dewormer. It does not treat for bacterial or fungal infections. If you are going to use an antibiotic, ampicillin would be a better choice, since it does treat bacterial/fungal infections.

prazipro was for eye fluke. This fish was not bought at a good fish store. The fish that die in the qt were sick and the ones that got better end up dead. after returning to display tank. I have lost about 10 cidlid in qt or when they returned. I lost one squirre fish in a qt. I have lost a puffy in deplay tank. I beleive he died from eating live food. I have treated 3-4 fish in display with no problem. I still don't see way you want to move them . I got it qt fish, or your doing every thing wrong. really don't see why treating a display tank is such a crime. It not a reef tank. When you buy the rock it died anyways. As long has you stay away from copper and meds. that may stain thing I realy don't see the harm. I'm doing water changes pretty much every 2- 3 days. well thanks still like the site just question the qt on everything. well good luck all.
