Sea Caterpillar?!

Today I noticed this odd character. I tried to get a pic of it with my digi cam. Couldn't get it to show up. Heres the best pic I could get. the thing is in the lower left. It looks like a white caterpillar of sorts. Its furry like and about an inch long. It is crawing across the sand like a centipede. Anyone have any idea what this might be and if it is harmful or beneficial? Thanks for the input!

It is hard to tell, but we had a worm, very similar to what you have described and were told to remove it immediately (with tweezers, of course)

they can be beneficial but at the same time not. they will consume dead or decaying matter in the tank, but if it gets big enough they can become predatory on certain animals.

I just read it and the part about reproducing a bunch was the reason we were told the worm should come out and just not chance it!
