I want to set-up a twenty gallon sea-horse tank but I just bought a purple fire fish. I was going to put the fire fish in my reef but I think it wil be to much for him can I put him in with the sea horses? Or will that be to much for the horses.
thanks

I think the fire fish will be fine in your reef. What other fish do you have? I wouldn't reccommend putting any fish in with sea horses, you might be able to since firefish are usually shy and skiddish, but I wouldn't put fish in with horses, JMO

IMO I would not recommend putting the firefish into ur seahorse tank. it might add stress to them duringfeeding time and stuff like that. How many pony's do you have? I also think the firefish should be okiein a reef unless u have something it shouldn't be with.

I dont have any ponys wet setting up the tank while quarintine the firefish. I had a reg. firefish in my reef and he got skidish and came down with ich this is what I have a fiji dam., yellow tail dam.,
yellow tang, and maroon clown.

I dont think firefish will add stress to horses, i havent seen such a peaceful fish then a firefish, i ve small... very small marine ghost shrimps in my tank and it even dont touched them! Also firefish will add colour to your horse tank, but one disadvantage is purple firefish eats very fast

eating fast= aggressive eater= no food for seahorse= seahorse stress
fast eater= fast movements= seahorse stress
:D :p ;) :)

killafins said it, any fish at al with seahorses is not such a good idea, MERELY because seahorses need special attention enough as it is for feeding, and any other fish would not make this any easier but even more difficult instead.
chances are that the horses will starve otherwise

There are a few fish you can put in with seahorses... but those are strictly pipe fish or mandarin's. nething else would be pushing it...

I can see where you would say mandarin's considering the mandarin's take a good amount of the seahorse's food. But as long as the seahorse and mandarin get a healthy does of shrimp (seahorse= mysis, ghost, glass, whatever) & (mandarin= live brine)... then the pods will be a back up food. However, in my case... my mandarin and seahorse barely ever leave eachother's side. It's quite cute actually.
