Sea horse okay?

clown fish have a slime that keeps them safe. over time the slime will pick up stinging cells from their host and eventually the clowns will sting also. its part of their defense mechanism. often you will even see the clowns sucking on the tips of anemones and other hosts. its common when moving clownfish using nets that their slime can get wiped off causing them to be stung and even killed by their previous hosts. another interesting fact that is not well understood is that the slime may cause the anemone to not recognize the clownfish as food so it doesn't react and close up trying to eat the fish. a lot is not actually known about the clownfish / anemone symbiotic relationship.

Shrimps must have that slime too because they steal food from my anemone all the time and sometimes I see them touch the frogspawn. They are cleaner shrimp.

mine does also... in relative terms frogspawns have a very weak sting. a hungry shrimp will have no problem going after food. if you had a seabe or bta you would see that shrimp keeping its distance. you also have to remember shrimp have an exoskeleton which provides them a certain level of protection.

I don't know anything about the corals but I do have one clown and so far no problems. I have a 55gal. I just feed my clown on the opposite end that my horses are at the time and once he is busy over there eating I feed my horses and it works just fine.

Thanks I want one so bad so I'm probably going to do that!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Must resist! Start with 2 seahorses....get some experience with the horses. Research more...and more....get comfortable with the horses before you start adding other fish or inverts.

being unexperienced with horses you should really only be doing a species only tank. horses are not something you just wanted to jump into, its not fair to them.

most common are reidi, kuda or erectus. These need a 29 gal tank or lrger, kept at a temp between 72 and 77 degrees, the cooler the better.
As a beginner, You really should start a species only tank with 2 female horses. research and read as much as you can about thier care.
I would not add to your current tank.
A 29 gal kit isnt that expensive and starting a fresh tank for horses is so much fun.
