I have a Sea Urchin like the one below. I heard that they can eat the coraline alge in the tank. Does anyone know if this is true. Is it safe to leave him in a reef tank?

No thanks, ones enough. I am trying to get some coraline alge to grow on my LR and i am afraid this guy isn't helping any. He came attatched to a piece of LR I bought. I don't have any coral yet but will this guy hurt the coral when i get some?

They eat it and poop it all back out and spread the coraline all over the place. Then they do it all over again.
As long as your corals are glued down, it is safe to add one to a reef. I think they help alot in spreading coraline. My .02
