sea urchins

does anyone have any info on wether or not sea urchins are safe in a reef tank or with live rock? I'm wondering if the sea urchins are destroying the polyps I had on some live rock.

i dont like my spiney urchin hes going back next weekend. eats all coral line algae and ate all of my small polyps. he dosent really clean any algae off the sides but does clean bubble alage if you have some. personally i dont like them.

you say, they need to be watched? What do you mean? If they are on them, knock them off?

Depends on what kind of urchin they are some are reef safe some are not. What kind are you talking about?

I have spiked urchins and carrier urchins

I dont know about carriers but i think your spiked is the long spine? If so he will eat your coraline but mine doesnt bother my polyps so im guessing he wouldnt bother your but all of these verts and fish have their own personalities and do there own thing. Most of the time they will act alike but then theirs still some outlaws out there.

What they don't eat, they poke to death. They can cause alot of collateral damage.
