I have two,as you can see in my sig. I don't believe that either of them have any poisons.
If you're not worried about your corraline growth I'd say they are a great addition. Can't tell you much else, sorry.

the pencil urchin is not poisonous i believe...the spiny is. Sea urchins in a reaf tank are tricky because they can tople rocks over onto corals. so you need to be sure that they are well secured to prevent this. Also, i think the pencil urchin is omnivor....and is more likely to eat watever is in its path, this may or may not be a good thing. Sea urchins can defenitly be kept in a reef tank as long as certain precautions are taken and also dependant on what species you want.

They are pretty neat. I used to have a purple spiny guy, but I eventually gave mine away because he was starting to knock over rocks and leave big white sploches where my coraline used to be. He was hard to get out of my tank because they can stick on very good to glass and rock, and you can't pull them off very easily.

We have a couple small ones in our tank, and so far so good.

vibe,
Wish I could show some pics but I don't have a digital cam
I acutally don't have too much in it now, I'm still lookin for some lights that will work for it. But for now I have some live rock, live sand, peppermint shrimp, a few snails, couple feather dusters, not much. Don't really want to get anything else until I get some lights for it.
